With a healthy new YOU in mind, I've teamed up with my friends at Marks & Spencer to share my new year approach to keeping fit and healthy this. A new active wear wardrobe certainly doesn’t hurt the cause either!
LETS GET PHYSICAL
My goal is to commit to at least 30 minutes of conscious physical activity each day.
The importance of physical movement can't be overlooked. Whether it be sweating it out in the gym, or long walks on the beach.
If you're anything like me, I get bored easily, so am constantly on the lookout for workouts that are fun and varied. I love boxing, Pilates, swimming, and recently have started dance classes (which are SO much fun). I like to hit the gym at least three times a week, and then build in some of these other activities into my routine to keep things interesting. Variety is the spice of life, so get up, get out and get active!
When you're stuck for workout ideas, here is one of my favourite fail-safe routines to try, any time, anywhere. I like to do this at least three times a week.
FRIEND IN FASHION 30 MINUTE WORKOUT
+ 3km run (or jog), I like interval training, so i'll alternate between sprinting & jogging
+ 2 minutes skipping (take a few breaks if you need)
+ 20 lunges (Each side)
+ 20 side lying hip abductions (each side)
+ 20 leg kicks
+ 20 push-ups
+ 20 tricep dips
+ 2 minute plank
+ REPEAT CIRCUT 2x (3 if you're feeling brave)
BIG CHANGES START WITH SMALL STEPS
Here are a few small changes I plan on implementing each day, to work toward overall wellbeing.
+ Drink more water - make a conscious effort to drink at least 8 glasses each day
+ Eat more green - more veggies - more nutrient dense meals
+ Digital detox - minimise time spent attached to devices
+ Sleep more - a good night's rest leads to a clearer mind
+ Cut down the sugar – less sweets/ chocolate (swap for fruits when that sugar craving hits)
