This striking silk skirt is the work of Victorian designer Krista Hochwallner .

I love sharing fabulous emerging designers with my readers and Krista Hochwallner is just that. I first came across Krista’s classic designs a couple of months ago, and instantly fell in love with her modern take on 50’s and 60’s design.

Feminine lines, pretty detailing, fun and glamour underpin Krista’s collections, and is one of the reasons I’m such a big fan.

Lovers of beautifully crafted, lady-like fashion must check out Krista’s current collection at kristahochwallner.com.au.

Krista also has a beautiful blog - The Days of Glamour.

P.S. I was absolutely spoilt for Valentines Day, with long stem red roses, a day at the salon followed by a romantic dinner! How did you celebrate?

Welcome to a world of lace and pearls, of femininity and romance. Welcome to the world of local designer Hayley Kate.

I was first introduced to Hayley’s gorgeous designs at a fashion market in my home town, and I was immediately drawn into her realm of lace, pearl and ruffle detailing, plunging backlines and asymmetrical creations.

Hayley transforms basic stretch cotton into designs which find the perfect balance between the elegant and bold, injecting her own modern twist on classic prints and fabrics.

Heavily influenced by her extensive travels and inspired by quality fabric and design, Hayley’s craftsmanship and attention to detail is unrivaled.

Ways to wear: Stretch cotton dress

This is another of Alice Wark’s designs.
A simple stretch cotton dress is a great versatile addition to any wardrobe.

Here I demonstrate just a handful of different ways you can experiment with the one design to create a range of different outfits easily and inexpensively.

My tip: Be creative, but stick to styles that compliment your body shape and always dress to accentuate your good points. For example if your problem area is your legs, try a fitted style up top and a fuller/flared skirt.

A simple style dress like this also looks great with accessories so why not try creating new looks by adding different belts, jewellery, bags and shoes.
