As the weather starts to heat up here in Australia, it's time to start thinking about summer swim trends...

When it comes to swimwear, I'm really quite discerning. I'm on the hunt for designs that not only look good, but styles you can be active in, without being uncomfortable. And in terms of swimwear trends, this season I'm all for 'sports luxe'.

The scuba essentials collection by one of my Aussie favourites, Baku, is spot on. The soft neoprene fabrication is perfectly lined, and provides great support. 

I've hand-picked three swim styles, which fit this brief to a tee (style and comfort) and will complete your swim wardrobe this season.

THE CROCHET BIKINI

Welcome to this slice of paradise…

I'm wearing: Andi Bagus crochet bikini & straw hat.

In the last year, Bali has become a home-away from home for me.

Over Christmas, I had the pleasure of a little rest and relaxation, travelling through Bali, and enjoyed a few nights in this oasis, also known as The Amala, right in the hustle and bustle of Seminyak.

Famous for its great shopping, food and nightlight, Seminyak is often on most Bali tourist itineraries, which means it can get busy and sometimes overwhelming (in the most pleasant sense), so to have a peaceful and quite resort to return to and relax is most welcomed.

Aside from its beautiful decor, and jade-green waters - each private villa in The Amala, has it's own gorgeous plunge pool. There are only 12 villas on the property, making it a gorgeous, private and quite place to unwind.

I'm thrilled to share with you my latest collaboration with Australian swimwear designers Baku and Ginja.

A trend in swimwear this season that I can't get enough of is the introduction of the swim crop top and the cropped rashie. I find these styles to be particularly flattering, especially if you're like me and love to be active at the beach or at the pool.

I love water sports - so swimwear that is active-friendly is a winner in my book.

On location in Hamilton Island 

A short while ago, I had the pleasure of returning to the picturesque Hamilton Island, with We Are Handsome, to indulge in some sun, sand and surf.

A LUXE NOMAD IN BALI

Last week, I had the absolute pleasure of a whirlwind visit to beautiful Bali.

On assignment with Vamastyle and The Luxe Nomad, fellow blogger, a pair & a spare and I were treated to the incomparable Bali hospitality at the beautiful Villa Sungai.

Situated away from the usual tourist jaunts - Villa Sungai is an absolute slice of paradise, tucked away in the traditional village of Cepaka.

The accommodation is luxurious, the food is some of the best I've eaten (anywhere in the world), and best of all, despite being tucked away in a village, there is a driver at your disposal to take you out and about if you're an explorer like me. Seminyak, Nusa Dua and Ubud are all an enjoyable drive away.

 Villa Sungai was a lovely break from the hustle and bustle of town - a true oasis.

My Vamastyle wardrobe of mix and match swimwear and easy-breezy resort wear definitely served as THE perfect holiday wardrobe.

As the second instalment of Friend in Fashion's 'swim series' (part I here), I thought I'd showcase, one of my favourite new swimwear brands, Zulu & Zephyr - the creators of this adorable high-waisted bikini.

I've long admired high-waisted swimwear, but wasn't sure if I'd be able to pull it off.

To be honest, I've found high-waisted styles much more comfortable and modest than traditional skimpy bikini bottoms, and who can resist the retro throwback.

The bold tropical print, and ruffles are the icing on the cake on this sweet 'palm waisted triangle bikini'

As we inch ever closer to summer, I've pulled out some of my favourite swimsuits and teamed up with Tina Kay for a Miami-esque beach series.

I really like the versatility of one-piece swimwear, allowing you to look great at the beach, and then by throwing on a pair of shorts, or a skirt, you instantly have a chic bodysuit.

An amazing crochet cover up, like this one via Emma Clothing is also a must.

Beautiful one day, perfect the next

Dear friends,

As the full Melbourne chill sets in, I'm very happy to be packing up this weekend and heading to sunny far north Queensland for a well earned rest.

First port of call will be to dust of my bikini (also seen here) and take a dip in crystal blue waters set amongst gorgeous tropical surroundings.

Weekend away: Halong Bay

I write you, sun-kissed, upon return from an amazing weekend away in the beautiful Halong Bay.

Saturday morning we kicked off our adventure with a three hour drive through provincial north-eastern Vietnam, before jumping on-board the aptly named Jasmine junk boat.

We set sail amidst calm and tranquil waters and enjoyed the fresh air, warm sun and delicious fresh-caught seafood. An absolute highlight was a visit to one of the four, brightly coloured, floating fishing communities which occupy the Bay.

A trip to Vietnam would be incomplete without a visit to Halong Bay. The UNESCO World Heritage site is one of the most beautiful places the country has on offer and offers perfect respite from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Summer lovin'

I won this gorgeous swimsuit, courtesy of the lovely girls at Ivana and Katerina.
I really love one piece bathers, not only because they are super comfortable, but they also look great worn as a body suit. The stripe and ruffle detailing is my favourite!

Over the weekend, we headed out into the sunshine, to test out my latest swimwear addition. My darling fiancé did a great job capturing the beautiful bright blue sky and ocean in these photos.
