TRAVEL DIARY | AUSTRALIAN ROAD TRIP WITH BMW

Last weekend I was treated by BMW Melbourne to the ultimate luxury weekend away in the beautiful, Victorian spa-town of Daylesford...

A short 45 minute drive from Melbourne, Daylesford is a gorgeous little country town, synonymous with pampering and luxury.

I had only been to Daylesford once before, on a very quick visit, and to be honest knew little more of this quaint destination.

My itinerary kicked off with a visit to the iconic Swiss-Italian farm, Lavandula. A stunning lavender farm a few minutes out of town. As you would imagine, the farm was stunning across all senses.

Next up, I checked into the très chic Hepburn at Hepburn luxury villas. Nestled in among the hills, this luxe accommodation was designed by award-winning architect David Edelman. A great place to stop and spend the night, the spa bath is truly extravagant and up there with one of the biggest I've ever seen.

Before not too long it was time for dinner, where I was treated to a beautiful degustation of local produce and wines from Daylesford culinary institution, Mercarto. The 'summer garden' starter of locally sourced garden treats was a highlight.

Sunday morning kicked off with a lazy long brunch, before shopping up a storm at the local antique market, where I walked away with some beautiful crystal goodies for the home.

To wrap up this exquisite weekend away, I was treated to a pamper session at Hepburn Bathhouse & Spa. The private pure mineral water bath, that the region is famous for, was just divine, which was followed by a one hour long massage for the perfect cherry on top.

As a traveller, it is easy to sometimes overlook experiences in your own backyard. I had an incredible time exploring Daylesford, and there is nothing better than jumping in a car for a short drive to experience what's on your own door-step.

The brand new BMW 318i M Sport, got me around town with ease and in style and was an absolute pleasure to drive.

A special thank you to BMW Melbourne for a truly luxurious and memorable escape.

POLKA DOTS IN PALM SPRINGS

Palm Springs, California has to be one of my most favourite places to visit in the world...

Sunshine, a breathtaking backdrop of desert, mountains, palm trees, and some spectacular architecture and design, Palm Springs is a 2 hour drive out of Los Angeles and a must-do on any Cali-adventure.

Summer in Palm Springs, is hot, and I mean really hot, even by Australian standards, so in between pool sessions, and chilled agua fresca on tap, I managed to step out in my favourite summer polka dot maxi, in front of one of my favourite Palm Springs homes.

POSTCARDS FROM PHUKET

A short while ago, I had the absolute pleasure of making my first trip to Thailand.

On location, in Phuket for The Luxe Nomad x Vamastyle, this trip certainly turned into one amazing adventure, that I will long cherish.

Not only was I treated to magical sunsets, incredible food, and a magnificent backdrop, but I was also blessed to meet and travel with my gypsy soul sister, Helen Janneson Bense (Gypsy Lovin Light).

You know that feeling when you first meet someone, and it's like you've know each other forever…Kindred spirits.

More from my Thailand adventure to come.

Today I'm reminiscing about my last trip to the most beautiful place on Earth.

The Maldives. I had the pleasure of spending a week to celebrate my birthday at the Six Senses in Laamu.

No words for how simply stunning this place is. I can't wait to return.

The Greek Islands - one of my favourite places on earth.

I'd visited Santorini before, but this trip was my first visit to the islands of Mykonos and Naxos.

Next, i'll post all my Greek Island travel tips, but I couldn't wait to share with you this beautiful dress, of local Greek label, Lucky Pig

I first came across Lucky Pig, in a great little boutique in Mykonos Town - Sotris. I tried it on, drawn in by the beautiful appliqué and immediately had to have it.

One of my favourite parts of travelling has to be uncovering beautiful local brands and designers, which upon my return home, remind me of the beautiful memories I've experienced in any particular part of the world.

My wardrobe is more and more starting to reflect the places I've visited and is a constant reminder of the amazing things I've been fortunate to have seen and people I've met.

wearing Vamastyle swim & resort-wear throughout, Hat of Cain Panoma, by jasmin jewellery

Last week, I had the absolute pleasure of a whirlwind visit to beautiful Bali.

On assignment with Vamastyle and The Luxe Nomad, fellow blogger, a pair & a spare and I were treated to the incomparable Bali hospitality at the beautiful Villa Sungai.

Situated away from the usual tourist jaunts - Villa Sungai is an absolute slice of paradise, tucked away in the traditional village of Cepaka.

The accommodation is luxurious, the food is some of the best I've eaten (anywhere in the world), and best of all, despite being tucked away in a village, there is a driver at your disposal to take you out and about if you're an explorer like me. Seminyak, Nusa Dua and Ubud are all an enjoyable drive away.

Villa Sungawas a lovely break from the hustle and bustle of town - a true oasis.

My Vamastyle wardrobe of mix and match swimwear and easy-breezy resort wear definitely served as THE perfect holiday wardrobe.

In my next travel blog post - I'll share my Bali must sees and dos.

Special thanks to The Luxe Nomad for highlighting some of Bali's best.

Back from LA - I thought I would share a handful of my must sees and dos for a visit to the City of Angels.

MUST DO
Hire a car! LA is such a big city, so to make the most of your time and see the best of the city, I highly recommend hiring a rental car to get around during your stay.

Catch an amazing LA sunset perched high on the Shangri-LA rooftop (Santa Monica)

Drive down the coast, exploring parts of Orange County, Newport Beach & Malibu

MUST SHOP
Rodeo Drive - all your high end shopping covered. Chanel to Celine - also amazing department stores including Barneys & Saks Fifth Avenue

Robertson Boulevard, Beverly Hills

Third Street Promenade, Santa Monica - Santa Monica Place is my favourite one-stop-shop

Fashion Island in Newport Beach

MUST SEE
The Getty Centre (one of my absolute LA favourites)

Hike Beachwood Canyon for a great view of the Hollywood sign

Hollywood Walk of Fame

Santa Monica Pier

MUST EAT
Lunch at Lemonade, AXE or Gjelina on Abbot Kinney (Venice Beach)

Tender Greens (Santa Monica & West Hollywood) - the perfect nutritious break to burgers & fries

Fro-Yo from Pink Berry (my favourite of many options in LA)

In-N-Out Burger - an LA institution

MUST PLAY
Chateau Marmont

The Beverly Hills Hotel

Roosevelt Hotel (don't forget to check out the bowling alley)

Viper Room

MUST STAY
I love to stay close to the beach (especially in Summer) - so I look to Santa Monica or Venice Beach. You have a great range of accommodation options from up scale hotels, to more budget-friendly options. My favourites are the Viceroy Hotel in Santa Monica or renting a gorgeous Californian beach-shack in the heart of Venice.

If the beach isn't for you, I love to stay at the Beverly Hils Hotel. It's luxe, private, perfect service and all things LA

This is just a taste of LA favourites - I'd love to hear yours!

I GOT MY RED DRESS ON TONIGHT

While in Hollywood, I had the absolute pleasure of shooting with the, beyond-words-incredible, Alexa Miller. Do yourselves a favour and check out her work (here) - top shelf.

Last minute, we met at my hotel, grabbed some killer Flynn Skye pieces and paraded up and down Hollywood Boulevard, snapping the adventure every step of the way.

The funny thing about Hollywood - you can be spinning around side walks - singing Lana, swishing your red dress from side to side, whilst being followed around by a photographer and no one bats an eyelid.

I always feel completely at home in the craziness that is Hollywood. It's a place that sucks you in.

Already planning my next adventure.

A fortnight ago, I had the good fortune and pleasure of attending the Critics' Choice Awards for the ultimate red carpet experience, courtesy of Discover LA

Leonardo Di Caprio, Bradley Cooper, Matthew McConaughey, Tom Hanks, OPRAH! and of course Friend in Fashion.

A pinch-worthy evening, rubbing shoulders with the stars, wearing the dream OGLIA-LORO couture gown, and partying in style.

The only way to experience Los Angeles

Wouldn't have been the same without my partner in crime Miss B.

The biggest thanks to Discover LA for an incredible experience and of course OGLIA-LORO for making the worlds most beautiful couture.

PARIS

With love from Paris.

One of my favourite cities in the world.

Absolutely beautiful in its appearance and culture, and not to mention a haven for some of the finest shopping in the world.

Savouring each and every pinch-worth moment.

FROM CROATIA WITH LOVE

Croatia has always been on my bucket list and for one reason or another I'd never made it. This time round, I knew I had to make time for this Adriatic jewel, and am I thankful I did!

Flying from Australia, then on to France and then ferrying across from Italy, Croatia did take a bit of effort to reach, but It is such an amazing place, I'm afraid my words and pictures hardly do this incredible place justice.

I write you from Hvar Island - an absolutely breath-taking slice of paradise, about 2 hours via Ferry from mainland Split. The original plan was to say five nights on Hvar, but I've absolutely fallen in love with this place, so I've decided to extend my stay.

Hvar is such a dynamic place, it has arguably some of the most pristine, crystal clear waters, I've ever had the privilege of seeing, and caters to all all that you would want in an island holiday.

When I travel, I tend to steer clear of major hotel chains, invariably all hotels end up looking the same throughout the world, so I tend to opt for accommodation which allows me to absorb more of a sense of place.

Hvar has many great options - my choice - a family run apartment right on the top of a beautiful hillside overlooking and only a short stroll from Old Town.

As always, the other half has picked himself up a scoter to get us around the island, and in my opinion is a fantastic way of uncovering some incredible hidden and secluded swimming spots - just like this one.

Here are few of my own Hvar recommendations:

EAT
There are so many dining options to cater to all tastes and budgets - an absolute stand out meal of mine has to be at a tiny sea-side restaurant called Gego, about a 15 minute scooter ride from Old Town. Hands down the most amazing seafood - I ordered the Lobster spaghetti - best I've had anywhere in the world!

DRINK
If you're after a few drinks, good music and a great sea-side experience, Hula Hula bar - is a must.

SWIM
You are spoilt for choice when it comes to amazing swimming spots - there are plenty of beaches along the coast-line. If you have the chance though, I'd recommend hiring a scooter and heading away from the main swimming areas to uncover amazing and mainly secluded swimming spots. Zarace is my favourite!

I'm here in Hvar for a short while longer, before exploring another Croatian Island, Krocula.

FRANCE : LIFE WITH BIRD

When travelling, especially through the summer months, I'm definitely very particular when it comes to packing. I always find myself drawn to great basics, matching coordinates and beautiful fabrics.

This outfit, photographed on the streets of France is the work of Melbourne designer, Life With Bird.

This gorgeous digital print tank and matching pants work as perfectly worn together aka jumpsuit style as they do separately, worked back with the rest of my travel wardrobe.

When it comes to my travel wardrobe - its all about versatility.

LONDON TRAVEL DIARY

Westminster Abbey / Checking in to Citizen M Hotel / view of London Eye / Selfridges, Mary Katrantzou window / streets of Soho wearing Lucette coat & Esther dress / ASOS Fashion Finder Behind the Scenes / Shopping Oxford Circus

Generally not more than a stop-over (and always lusting for more time), my brief visits to London are always a highlight of my travels and this week was no different.

After a quick visit in Dubai, I caught the red-eye to London, checking in to what has to be noted as one of my favourite hotels, Citizen M.

Jet-lagged and tired, I went to check in, only to realise that I had mistakenly booked my room a month earlier than my arrival - rookie mistake. Thankfully the team at Citizen M were so helpful and understanding, they were able to assist me and before I knew it I was changed an bound for my favourite shopping spot Oxford Circus. What is travel without adventure, the unknown and the unplanned.

A few hours into my visit, and early credit card damage done thanks to Selfridges, Cos, Urban Outfitters and Topshop, It was time for a bite in Soho (Vitao is my favourite vegetarian cafe in Soho - worth a visit). I always love a visit to Soho, an amazing creative/grungy vibe, unique only to London. Visits to Covent Gardens and Camden made sure that my short London visit was packed with great sights, shopping and tastes.

For those following @friendinfashion on Instagram, would have also noticed during my London visit, I was lucky enough to collaborate with ASOS and ASOS Fashion Finder, shooting some of my key holiday looks for the season. The team was amazing, as was the ASOS operation, with over 1000 staff.

Such an extraordinary experience - I can't wait to share the end results with you soon.

I've now landed in the Cote d'Azur, where I plan on spending as much time in the crystal blue Mediterranean as possible, as well as checking out the Festival de Cannes. My favourite time of year in the South of France.

BON VOYAGE

My last blog post from Melbourne.

Enroute to France via Dubai and London, I'm excited to explore new and unknown parts of the world.

For me travel is what living is all about. I love meeting new people, uncovering favourite new places and absorbing new cultures. Travel has and continues to teach me how to learn, adapt, love and appreciate the best in life.

As Bill Bryson perfectly articulated, 'to my mind, the greatest reward and luxury of travel is to be able to experience everyday things as if for the first time, to be in a position in which almost nothing is so familiar it is taken for granted'.
