SUMMERS, SEA-SIDE

Summer time in Australia, generally means spending dawn to dusk close to water...

For me, there is nothing I love more than the beach, so over the weekend, I dropped by my local swim spot, and enjoyed the sun and salt water.

When it comes to summer fashion, I love to mix and match, and this Backstage crop and wrap skirt, (which I recently picked up from Westfield Doncaster) is absolutely prefect for this gorgeous warm weather.

Light, and flowing, I love these two pieces because they can be worn so many different ways. Together, as separates and I have also worn this wrap skirt as a strapless dress!

Perfectly versatile and perfect for summer.

FREE SPIRIT

#TodayIAm free-spirited...

Spring has sprung in Melbourne and to coincide with Westfield's new #TODAYIAM campaign, this season I'm all about channeling my inner Boheme.

Inspired by the world, my travels, and the cities and people around me, I'm embracing romantic prints, billowing sleeves, folk-gypsy details and feminine flowy dresses.

And as for the motto I choose to live by... explore more, adventure awaits...

#TODAYIAM is all about empowerment and inspiration and my wanderlusting ways are often reflected in my wardrobe choices. Not only is this dress perfectly spring, it packs down small in my suitcase, and barely needs ironing.

And as for the motto I choose to live by... explore more, adventure awaits...

Bring on the adventure!

WINTER BEAUTY ESSENTIALS

Today, I wanted to share with you my secrets on how to maintain healthy, glowing skin throughout the bitter-cold winter months.

Over the weekend, I visited a few of my cosmetic favourites at Westfield Doncaster, including (Mecca Cosmetica, Mecca Maxima and David Jones) to also get some expert advice on how best to look after my skin.

For me, I generally keep my makeup to a minimum, preferring to concentrate on beautiful healthy skin. To start my skin-care routine, I always exfoliate. Not only do I love the way my skin feels after a light exfoliation, but it is also a vital step in removing dry dead skin, in order to reveal that coveted healthy glow. I've only recently discovered an incredible product by Mac, their 'Mineralize Volcanic Ash Exfoliator' (5). I love this product, because it unclogs my pores instantly, and works perfectly across my entire body.

Following a good exfoliation, I love to moisturise my face, with Kiehl's 'Abyssine Cream +', a super hydrating and light moisturiser (7).

Next up in my routine is an absolute favourite and must have beauty product of mine - Mecca Cosmetica 'Soft Focus Smoothing Primer' (3). A Mecca make-up artist first introduced me to this product, and I've been hooked ever since. This beautiful primer helps your foundation glide on smoothly, and also has a gorgeous illuminating glow, which on it's own looks gorgeous on the skin. A hint, I was told by the staff was also to mix a splash of my Nars Laguna illuminator (2) with the primer, to add a healthy glow, to sometime dull winter skin.

The secret to a year-round glow is my Nars Laguna bronzer for that natural, sun-kissed look, my Urban Decay Naked3 Eyeshadow Palette (1) adds definition to my eyes, and a touch of concealer (Urban Decay Naked Skin) (9) finishes off the look.

For final touches - lips and cheeks, I love to use Nars lip pencils (6), Bolero is my favourite shade of neutral pink and my Mac lip and cheek colour in 'Have A Nice Day' (8) adds a gorgeous rosy glow.

And there you have it. My secrets to keeping your skin healthy and glowing.

What are some of your beauty must-haves?

WINTER WARMERS

As the temperature drops here in Australia, It’s time to rug up in some of my winter favourites…

This season, I’m all about neutral tones – steering clear of classic black. I think there is something timeless and elegant about winter whites, and a classic camel coat is the perfect accompaniment to any winter wardrobe.

Winter wear for me is all about experimenting with different fabrics and silhouettes to create a really strong-layered look.

Try layering cabled knitwear - with textures like wool, denim and leather to create the perfect look for any occasion – casual or formal. For a bold, fashion forward look, experiment with layering the same or similar colours, like this white cable knit and white skirt.

TREND ALERT | NORMCORE

So what is the 'normcore' trend really all about anyway?...

For my next instalment of Westfield AW15 #FashionObsessions, I'm sharing one of my favourite trends of the moment - normcore.

Think boy meets girl - unisex, casual dressing at its finest.

For me, to embrace this trend I opt for my favourite pair of jeans, a classic white tee and some trainers - a street-style must.

Such a simple trend to recreate yourself, comfortable and so easy to wear.

KHAKI LOVER

Trend alert - Military is in...

This season I've teamed up with Westfield to share some of my AW15 #FashionObsessions

Military is the first of my favourite trends.

I’m absolutely obsessed with Khaki as the colour of the season, which I see as the perfect colour compliment to classic black and white.

Teamed back with statement boots, I plan to transform this look further, as the weather cools by styling with a black fitted turtle-neck and tights.

CIRCA VINTAGE

Rarely do you meet people who are as passionate or knowledgeable when it comes to vintage fashion.

During the week, I was kindly invited by Westfield Southland to visit one of their newest retail additions - a vintage pop up store, created by the lovely Nicole Jenkins of Circa Vintage.

Nicole, very well versed in the history of fashion, as well as costume design, showed me through a selection of her carefully curated vintage pieces, reminding me again of why I love vintage shopping so much.

Vintage Gaultier, Comme des Garcons, and a suspected Christian Dior blazer all make an appearance in Nicole's collection - a fashion lovers treat through the decades.

It was my first time to Westfield Southland in Melbourne, and I can say that I was truly impressed at how the traditional retail experience for shoppers has been enhanced with creative and innovative additions like the Circa Vintage pop up.

It was a lovely afternoon of shopping, which combined new fashion trends and fast fashion, with the glamour and elegance of designer vintage pieces of yesteryear.

The Circa Vintage pop up will be up and running until the end of the month, so If you have the chance, go along, have a chat with Nicole and admire some beautiful vintage pieces.

Twitter followers would have already had a sneak peak at my latest purchases – these perfectly distressed jeans and gorgeous wool hat.

For me, the boyfriend jean is the perfect every-day denim option and these Billabong beauties, with colour-blocked detailing work a treat.

On a side note, I’m sad to say, that summer has well and truly passed here in Australia, with the Melbourne chill in full force.

Whilst I’m extremely envious of my friends in the northern hemisphere, who are gearing up for the warmer months, I’ve got a great excuse for a new winter wardrobe.

Cosy knits, more hats and riding boots are all on my list.
What winter fashions are you looking forward to most this season?
